Customer Need:
The bank board desired to restore the building to its original splendor, and have some much needed general maintenance performed.
Special Features:
This building was originally built by the founder of Vanderwerff Construction Company, Ted Vanderwerff Sr. It was built for the Public Service Company, a joint utility, in the late 1920's. We removed the 1950's "modernization" and completely restored the building exterior including tuckpointing, flat roofing, slate roofing, stucco, caulking, and replacement of signs, trims, flashings, doors and windows. Some related interior alterations were also completed. The building received historic landmark status after restoration work was completed in 1982.
"We're lucky to have this beautiful, historic building and when we restored the building it was important to retain the historic integrity as well as its beauty. Since Vanderwerff Construction was the original builder, they were more familiar with the building than any other firm, making them the logical choice to restore it. They reused original windows where possible, and matched the unique trim and windows where necessary." Steve Risley, President
